Dr. Angela Low

Angela is leading the evaluation of an Early Years mental health promotion initiative at Child Health BC. This province-wide project aims to build the capacity of parents, caregivers and early childhood educators to promote the social and emotional development of children ages 0-6. Angela has a PhD in Human Development, Learning and Culture from the University of British Columbia (UBC), where her research focused on the emotional processes that affect how parents learn, with the goal of helping to create more supportive and effective educational resources for parents. She is also an instructor in the MA program in Early Childhood Education at UBC.
Angela wholeheartedly believes that helping families grow in social and emotional competence is key to building a society that is well, happy and kind. Over the last ten years, Angela has worked with numerous community organizations and schools in British Columbia to integrate social and emotional learning (SEL) into existing curricula and practice. She lives in Vancouver with her partner and two daughters, and relishes getting out on the water paddling, kayaking or sailing in those sunny moments between the rain.
